SKELLY'S SUNFLOWER EXPERIENCE
What is the Sunflower Experience?
2020 will be our third year of our sunflower field experience! We plant approximately five acres of beautiful yellow sunflowers for you to walk through and enjoy. We have three special areas in our field: the walking area, the cutting area, and the specialty flower area. Our walking area is around four acres and features 14 "prop stops," 2 viewing platforms and so many opportunities for photos! We have signs directing you to prop stops and viewing platforms throughout our field. These prop stops are little areas cut out off the main path and include items you can use for picture props and backgrounds (examples: straw bales, ladders, rustic fences). The cutting area is used only for picking out the best sunflowers for cutting to take home with you! At least one flower is included in your admission price (see below). Lastly, the specialty flower area is around a quarter acre of almost 20 different varieties of sunflowers and is located right at the entrance of the walking field. Enjoy multi-colored flowers, branching flowers, short and tall flowers, flowers with large and small heads, and even scented flowers! This area is not used for cutting.
Scroll through the pictures at the top to see many we've taken over the years. You won't want to miss this!
When will the field be open?
We aim for a late July to early August opening of our field. As always, Mother Nature is in charge and it all depends on what our weather is like from planting (May) through July. Sunflowers like a decent amount of rain and will bloom faster if it's hot.
Our sunflowers are in bloom for approximately two weeks. For our 2020 sunflower experience, we will update more when we get closer to opening. We are hoping to be open sometime after the weekend of July 25th, but we won't know until closer to that date.
Field hours are 9am - 6pm (last tickets sold at 5:30pm). Evening hours are not available this year. Absolutely no trespassing before and after hours.
*Prices are valid for the 2020 season
Every guest age 4 and older must pay admission (3 and under are free). There are two admission levels.
$10/person includes admission to the field, 1 cut sunflower to take home, a choice of donut from our bakery, and 10% off sunflower gifts in our retail barn.
$15/person includes admission to the field, 6 cut sunflowers to take home, a choice of donut from our bakery, and 10% off sunflower gifts in our retail barn.
You do have the option to buy additional flowers to take home for $2/each or $6/6 flowers. We also sell galvanized pots at our admission booth if you'd like to purchase a nice vase for your flowers. Pots vary in price.
Professional Photography in our Fields
We welcome all sorts of professional photographers to our fields! You don't have to rent a certain space in our field. As long as every single person (including you!) pays admission, there is no other fee for photos. Please share some with us via Facebook messenger or Instagram direct messages! If you would like to take pictures around the rest of the farm, you will need to sign a waiver. Photographers are only allowed in our field during business hours. No trespassing in our fields before and after hours.

Price is $45/person and included in your ticket price is all painting materials, admission to our sunflower field, a cup of coffee and a donut. For an extra $10 per group (admission purchase per person is required) you can have 5 minutes with Amy and she will get as many professional photos of you and your family/friends as possible! Last year she was able to get at least 5 great quality photos per group. When we know our season opening date we will announce dates and times Amy will be available. **New for 2020 we are taking reservations online! Reserve a 5-minute time slot so we can avoid long lines. Bookings will be available as soon as we know when our field is opening.**
