Strawberries
Strawberry season is our first season of
the year at Skelly's Farm Market. We have eight acres of
strawberries open for both Pick-Your-Own and Pre-picked
berries.
Our season usually starts around the
first week or two of June.

Pre-picked Berries
We usually have pre-picked berries available
everyday after about 7:30 a.m. We pick every day to
ensure fresh, great berries. Berries are available on an
as available basis. We do not take orders or prepayments
for berries, but we usually have berries available
everyday until close to closing time. You can check on
berry status before coming out by calling (608)
757-1200.
Pick-Your-Own
We have pick-your-own available whenever we are open for
berries, supplies provided. Our drive opens at 7 a.m. everyday.
We supply boxes for you to use, and you will not be charged for
the box. These boxes are designed so they zero out with our scales
and are made so your berries will keep their excellent quality. You do not need to bring your own container, but you are
welcome to bring your Skelly box back for your next picking.
If you come to pick-your-own, make sure to wear comfortable
clothing. Mornings are usually coolest, but the plants are
usually wet from dew or occasionally from an overnight watering.
Be sure to bring bug spray in case the mosquitoes decide you are
sweet. A bottle of water and a snack may also be a good idea.
We do welcome pickers of any age or experience, but we ask
that children pick with an adult or enjoy our playground while
picking. We charge per pound for pick-your-own, so you can
always choose to pick as little or as much as you would like.
Stands To make our great tasting strawberries even
easier to buy, we now have four roadside stands open everyday.
The berries are the same price at the stands as at the farm at
$4/quart or 6 quarts for $23.00. These stands are open from
around 10:15 until after 5 pm or when the daily supply runs out.
These stand locations are:
- Former Jodi's Gormet Coffee on Milton Ave. in Janesville
- Next to Kwik Trip in Edgerton
- The Clubhouse Mini Golf in Roscoe, IL - Closed for
season

Season Length
Strawberry season is very short, so do not delay about
coming out to pick. Typically, our season is just over 3 weeks
long. But you can always get extra to freeze up to can so you
may enjoy good strawberries during all the winter months.
Strawberry Care
Strawberries are a very delicate fruit and will spoil quickly
if not cared for properly.
- Cool berries as quickly as possible after picking. Do
not let the berries sit in the sun or in a hot car.
- Do not wash or hull the berries until you are ready to
eat or prepare them.
- Store berries in an airtight container in the
refrigerator.
- Try to use all berries within a few days of picking.
- Pick berries early in the morning when it is cool. We
open at 7 a.m. every day so it is cool for you and the
berries.
- Do not pile berries more than three levels high. Our
picking boxes are wide and flat to help prevent damage to
the berries.
- Buy small quantities more frequently. Berries only last
a few days, but you can buy them often throughout our three
week season.
