Cooking Tips
Acorn
Squash A small ribbed squash
that may be green, orange, or white. It is excellent for baking and is
easy to prepare. Is ready to be eaten right after harvest or may be kept
for up to 3 months.
Buttercup
A small or medium sized
fruit that is blocky shaped. It has little rind and plenty of deep orange
flesh to feed a family. Buttercups also freeze quite well.
Butternut
Squash The most traditional and
popular type of squash, and arguably the best tasting. Cylindrical and
long shaped, the butternut has deep orange flesh with a smooth, nutty
flavor. May be stored all winter long.
Sweet
Dumpling Squash Small,
green and white striped teacup shaped fruit. Sweet, orange flesh that is
good for stuffing. Keeps well.
Delicata
Squash Similar to Sweet
Dumpling, only long and narrow instead. Cream colored flesh that is
excellent for stuffing or baking. Keeps well.
